only i would dream about having superpowers, then somehow get blackmailed for it, and then be chased by the police all over town, with one policeman chasing me on a Segway...

i also dreamed of a really cool sports car that i somehow drove without a key when escaping from the police. too bad i don't have the drawing skills to put it to paper. it really was nice. if only i were a car designer.

I haven't written in a while. Not just here but in terms of my creative writing.
Something inspired me tonight, though. So here it is.

"A New World"
Where has my simple soul gone?
Where has it flown?
Childhood giggles and playing in the sand
drawing shapes with chalk on gravel

Where has simplicity gone?
Gone with childhood trust
gone with unquestioning loyalty
gone with the effervescent wind

Where has my wonder gone?
Those nights of staring endlessly at the pure night sky
Where has purity gone?

Left to fend for ourselves
We have grown battle weary
Bitter and bewildered
Grown too crusty,
our smiles twitch at the corners

Worry, stress, restlessness has replaced wonder

but it is not all gone
One smell, one chord,
one memory brings it all back
The wonder, the awe, the pure love
of music and joy
The joy in listening to resounding music
Hands gliding over the ebony and ivory keys
Remembering lost notes
recovering and with each rediscovered note
reminding ourselves once again of who we are

This is what I am here for
The joy, the laughter, the drama of beautiful sights and sounds

The beauty of natural life
of simplicity
of music that can stir us to the bottom of our souls
The rich bass lulls us into safety
the melody takes us away
to a wonderful world of leaping droplets of light

I remember my passion
and my fingers ache to fly over the keys
my voice longs to join the waves of music cascading into my ears
I long to open my eyes and find myself on stage
joining with the rest in creating
life

Life through art
is all I know

So I remind myself
as I console myself
by letting my fingers instead fly over the keyboard
to type these words
while my mind stays lost
in a world of purity
so easily forgotten
yet easily remembered

steaks on a plane

... and aches on a train.

my father and i got bumped up to business class on our flight to tokyo today. oh how luxurious, how comfortable it is! especially after having experienced tedious delays on northwest coach class. yah.

and yup, u guessed it, our main meal contained steak!! very juicy, very good, i couldn't believe my taste buds. in fact, mine was a little rare, which i didn't mind at all, since i like mine a little red.

it was also wondrous being able to sleep flat! not 180 degrees horizontal, a little tilted up, but much better than trying to find some way to contort your body and force some sleep into your system. i fell asleep for about 2 hours without even realizing. i'm not usually very good at falling asleep on planes, so 2 hours was plenty enough.

after all the comforts on the plane, we suddenly were reduced to standing the entire train ride from the airport to tokyo station. we had to take the express in order to make it to my father's appointment with someone, so i had to stand for about an hour... needless to say i am very tired.

we've finally arrived at our hotel in tokyo, in shiodome. i met up with my sister (whoohoo) and the three of us are visiting grandma tomorrow. early.

sleeeeepy. but hungry.

i saw orion low in the sky as i drove home tonight. that can only mean one thing.
cold weather is a-coming.

mmm, i think it's time for me to delve back into music and music-making. i'm testing out my new headphones right now. Koss KTXPro1. So far so good. Pretty good range: 15 - 25,000 Hz, which is probably more than i can hear at this point in my life. me likes. Good midrange, bass doesn't overpower the rest, and the treble is clear. I don't even have this baby at full volume and it's plenty loud. goody.
